“Navajo nation to get first junk food tax in U.S.”

Why was the tax on fresh fruit removed? Should the rest of our country consider taxing foods with added sugar?

  1. I think the junk food tax is a good idea, and taking away the fresh fruit and vegetable tax as well. These two movements combined should impact the purchases and health of the Navajo community in a positive way.

  4. I think the tax thing is a good idea. It would encourage people to eat healthy. Another simple thing they could do is just lower portion size.

  7. I agree with Michaela, I think it might improve peoples eating habits. I don't think it will effect the junk food company's because people love their junk food. But I do think it will improve the healthy food sales because some people cant afford to buy the healthy food they need and want, but without healthy food tax the healthy food will be more affordable.

  9. Taking away Fresh fruits and vegtable tax is a good idea and so is putting tax on un-healthy foods. If someone doesn't really have the money to buy fresh fruits and vegtables they are most likely going to go to the junk food aisle and buy the cheapest food. If the fresh fruits and veggies are cheaper then those people with eat healthier. Without fresh fruits and vegtable tax it will motivate people to eat healthier.

  10. I think that all taxes on fresh fruit were removed because it was high priced for the freshest fruit. But if they put a little more tax on junk food, it would make it harder for the poorer people to get the cheep stuff. And if people do not have the money to buy the junk food they will hopefully switch to the fresh fruit. Obese people might benefit the most from this tax change.
